OUR WHY
At the Utah Peer Network, we believe in the transformative power of lived experience in recovery. Peer Specialists are uniquely qualified because of their lived experience to build powerful trust, connection, and rapport. Simply put, Peer Support Specialists change lives. At UPN, we strive to be the support for Peer Support Specialists.

Our Mission is to create a statewide network
of support, advocacy, and education focused
on an equitable and inclusive peer support workforce,
by collaboratively integrating peer support across
systems of care in Utah.
The Vision of the Utah Peer Network is a sustainable
peer workforce that is maintained through education,
community connection, and collaboration with peer
stakeholders throughout the state.
UPN GOALS
UPN is committed to 7 primary goals, all grounded in a foundation of community, justice, and engagement.
UPN will create a robust pre-certification process to ensure new and aspiring peer specialists have everything needed to complete certification and start working.
Training
UPN is committed to ensuring that all training and certification are up-to-date and evidence-based, so peers can practice confidently. We also provide comprehensive technical assistance to organizations hiring peers.
Support
At UPN, we provide overarching support to peers, employers, and agencies. We provide coaching, professional development, and continuing education opportunities.
Outreach
UPN does outreach to educate communities and organizations about peer support and helps them implement peer support ethically and effectively.
Records
UPN aims to support peers through effective and ethical record stewardship by maintaining a data collection of peer specialists, employers, agencies, and providers.
Employment
UPN supports employment for peers and agencies that employ peer specialists. We provide employment preparation services for new and aspiring peers and a job posting board.
Development
UPN facilitates monthly meetings with peer specialists where information and resources can be shared and issues of ethics and boundaries can be addressed.
