GETTING RECERTIFIED

At UPN, we believe that peer support specialists deserve the best ongoing professional development opportunities possible. We believe that you deserve to have the tools and resources to help your clients and yourself to be successful in the field, so that you can be the change you want to see in the world. Every peer gets into this work for their own reasons, but we all want to change the world, and we do this by sharpening our skills in peer service delivery.

All Certified Peer Support Specialists in the state of Utah must recertify every two years. To recertify, you must complete 20 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

  • 6 hours in Peer Support service delivery

  • 2 hours in Ethics

  • 1 hour in Suicide Prevention

  • 11+ hours in general Substance Use Disorder, Mental Health, or health education

When you have these CEUs completed, fill out the recertification application, found at the bottom of the page of this link, and send it to the email listed on the form. You do not need to include all CEUs but must have the documentation as the state does audits and may request them.
